The Lorax

Read Dr Seuss’s book The Lorax and watched the movie and was boggled by how greed makes us self-destructive. It creates a cycle which is difficult to break. Countries are at war and poverty is rampant part because of our unquenchable greediness. We always want more and are never satisfied. It seems as if our appetites are constantly aroused instead of us feeling fulfilled. The world is rich with resources which are unfortunately unequally distributed and we fight to maintain that inequality. We find satisfaction in being the dominant person and will do anything to crush others to maintain our status. Aren’t we meant to be the superior beings or animals and reasonably curb the wild nature that is inherent?  We might be having a blast now but doom awaits us. Take time to think of the future. Take into perspective the future generations. What will happen when we chop the last tree? What will we tell our children when we kill the last animal? Where will the future generations live when we have destroyed their home? What is better enjoying now and suffering for eternity or investing now for a better tomorrow? We are all important for a greener and better future. Be the positive change on earth’s timeline. Let’s play our part.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
